Story of the movie: The film revolves around a Muslim girl from Baroda, Insia (Zaira Wasim) who aspires to become a singer. But she comes from a home where there are restrictions on not just her actions, but also her thoughts and dreams. While she is eager to open her cage and fly in the skies of her dreams, she also wants to free her mother from the domestic abuse she is subjected to. Becoming a famous singer is her way to find freedom for both of them. Insia takes a step closer to her dream and starts uploading videos of her singing clad in a burqa. She becomes an internet sensation and thus a Secret Superstar is born. But, will Insia ever be able to find her freedom? Will she ever become the superstar she aspires to be? For this you have to watch the film.

Star Performance: Zaira Wasim has delivers a brilliant performance. While on the other hand, Aamir Khan is the scene-stealer. Meher Vij, who plays a role of Insia’s mother is also impressive. And others like Chintan (Tirth Sharma) and child-actor Guddu (Kabir) are adorable.

Music Direction: Amit Trivedi’s music is pleasing  Main Kaun Hoon – the signature song of the film will surely be with you even when you leave the cinema hall. Nachdi Phira is like one of those AR Rehman songs which works like a slow poison. Meri Pyaari Ammi, Gudgudi & I Miss You goes with the mood of the film.

Direction: The film’s direction is good. The story of the film is very good. It also marks Advait’s debut as a director and he definitely gets a thumbs up from us. He has narrated the film in a simple way and has successfully. The first half surely required a tighter screenplay. Even the runtime could have been shorter as there are a couple of sequences that were not much required and could have been edited out.

Watch Or Not: Don’t wait just go and watch!
