Actress-producer Anushka Sharma, who was nominated as a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ambassador, has lent her support to the cleaning of a beach.
The Bollywood star on Friday shared a series of photographs in which she is seen cleaning the Versova beach.
“‘An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching’ – Mahatma Gandhiji. Swachh Bharat. Swachhata Hi Seva,” she captioned the image.
Earlier this month, Anushka was invited by Modi to be a part of his government’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative. Apart from the actress, Modi had also invited Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to be part of the movement.[ecp code=”4″]
Prime Minister Modi had sent out letter to Anushka Sharma and other celebrities on his birthday, which was on September 17, to invite them to participate in the Swachh Bharat campaign. Anushka Sharma accepted the invite and was seen cleaning the beach on Friday.
The actress captioned it as, “Our country is our mother and to keep our country clean is our duty. Everyday we do things for ourselves, just a little bit of awareness and consciousness in keeping our surroundings clean will enable us to live in a healthy environment and we all know health is everything. Today I went on a cleanliness drive to Versova Beach with my friends and family and in reality, the pleasure I felt in cleaning the beach is indescribable…. In Mahatma Gandhi ji’s words … “An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching”. So please do your bit.”
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched in 2014 with an aim to eliminate open defecation and keep the rural area and cities clean.
Anushka recently won GQ’s Woman of the Year 2017 award. She will launch her clothing line soon and her product line will have jackets, tees, dresses and denim The price of the products will range from Rs 699 to Rs 3999.
