The photo is all over social media and Dhoni can be seen signing a cricket bat as he is surrounded by Army.

For the uninitiated, Dhoni was accorded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2011. The 38-year-old is a qualified paratrooper as he has completed five parachute training jumps.

The cricketer will be living with the troops like any other soldier and won’t receive any VIP treatment.

Armed with an AK 47 assault rifle, Dhoni will be performing his duties with the Victor Force, which engages in tackling militant groups in the valley. However, the 38-year-old cricketer will not be a part of any active operation.

Dhoni opted not to tour the West Indies and instead serve the Army. The Indian cricket team is on West Indies tour currently and will play a full-fledged series there. The tour kicks-off with three-match T20Is followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two-match Test series.
