The director got emotional as he tweeted about Om Puri’s death today. In his tweet he expressed his grief and said.

Talking about his role in the film that’s touted to be a period drama, earlier Om Puri had revealed in an interview, “In Tubelight I play a Muslim Gandhian. The film is set during the Indo-China war of 1963. I have a very interesting sympathetic character. If you remember I had played a sympathetic liberal Pakistani mullah in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It’s good to be cast in characters with unexpected shades of empathy. Kabir knows how to use actors in the best way possible.”

About shooting with Salman, Om Puri had said: “I had done Dabangg with him. Then we did Bajrangi Bhaijaan, now Tubelight. Salman has evolved as an actor.”

Well, we pray for him, May his soul rest in peace!
