After a long wait, finally the makers of ‘Padmavati’ released the first song ‘Ghoomar‘. It is a Rajasthani folk song and is picturised on Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
The song involves twirling in circles which leaves the onlookers mesmerized.
Buzz is that the actress did as many as 66 twirls in the duration of the entire song while donning her heavy attire and jewellery. She learnt the dance form from expert Jyoti D Tommar, who runs a school in Rajasthan based entirely on this art form.
“It has been one of the most difficult song sequences that Sanjay sir and I have shot for. The shooting of the film began with this song and I will never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot and suddenly, I felt a chill run through my body. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. That feeling still lingers and will continue for years to come.” said Deepika.

Ghoomar is crooned by the talented singer Shreya Ghoshal.
‘Padmavati’ is based on Rani Padmini, the legendary Rajput queen of the kingdom of Chittorgarh, to be played by Deepika. It also features Shahid as her husband, king Rawal Ratan Singh, and probably the most impressive of them all – the invader Alauddin Khilji, essayed with sheer ferocity by Ranveer.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is slated to release on December 1.
