Bollywood veteran actress Nimmi aka Nawab Banoo passes away at her residence in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. She was 88.
Reportedly, Nimmi was suffering from breathing problems and had been in and out of the hospital. Her last rites will take place today.
Talking about the actress her brother-in-law Ijhar Hussain told Indian Express, “She had been unwell for some time now. We will be having the last rites tomorrow but are yet to decide on how to do the funeral considering the body cannot be brought to the society due to the coronavirus, and also we aren’t sure how many people can gather for the funeral. We will make a decision tonight.”

Nimmi was known for her roles in films like ‘Uran Khatola’, ‘Aan’, ‘Bhai-Bhai’, ‘Mere Mehboob’ and ‘Pooja Ke Phool’. The actress was given the name Nimmi by the legendary filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor as she made her acting debut with his film ‘Barsaat’.
She was married to S. Ali Raza, who passed away in 2007. The couple was not blessed with children and hence, they adopted Nimmi’s sister’s son.
