Singer Papon, who has been embroiled in controversy for allegedly forcefully kissing a minor on a reality show – Voice India Kids.
A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a complaint against Assamese singer with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for an ‘inappropriate’ act of showing affection to a minor girl.
Earlier this week, a video in which Papon is seen planting a kiss on the lips of a minor girl contestant of the &TV show became viral online.
Earlier on Saturday, Papon had tweeted that following the controversy, he was in “no mental state to fulfil most of my professional obligations” and so he stepped down as the judge of singing reality show “The Voice India Kids”.
“Since I am in no mental state to fulfil most of my professional obligations, I have decided to step down as a judge on the show till the matter in which I have been falsely implicated is fully resolved and the investigations are over,” the 41-year-old singer from Assam said in a tweet.

Earlier, Papon had defended himself in a long Facebook post where he said that he was showing affection for an 11-year-old child he is mentoring and what he did is not an alien concept for him. The singer apologized for his behavior but reiterated that there was no wrong intention behind any of his actions.
