Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol, who bagged the Gurdaspur seat for the BJP,  took oath as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Dressed in a white shirt, black coat, and trousers, took the oath in English.

“I Sunny Deol been elected a member of the House of the People do swear in the name of God that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established that I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India and that I will faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter,” the actor read out.

Apart from Sunny Deol, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Aam Aadmi Party’s lone MP Bhagwant Mann were among the leaders who took oath as members of 17th Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

IUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal and former Union ministers Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Preneet Kaur were also administered oath on the second-day of the maiden session.

Sunny Deol’s father Dharmendra had represented the BJP and contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Rajasthan’s Bikaner and emerged victorious. Sunny Deol’s step-mother and actor Hema Malini represents Mathura for the BJP and has been active in politics.
