Miss Universe 1995 Chelsi Smith lost her life after battling the cancer for a long time. Smith died on Saturday due to liver cancer at the age of 45.
She was Sushmita Sen’s successor as Miss Universe. Sushmita took to Twitter to mourn her death.
Posting a picture form the crowing ceremony, she wrote, “I loved her smile & that generous spirit!!! Rest in peace my beautiful friend @Chelsi_Smith #MissUniverse1995 Dugga Dugga.”

Smith became the first woman from the United States to win the title in 15 years. Apart from being Miss Universe, Chelsi Smith was also a successful model, a television show host and also a singer. She featured in films like Playas Ball, Saladin Patterson’s short film One Flight Stand. Chelsi also participated as a celebrity contestant on the American television show, Wheel of Fortune.
