Team India captain Virat Kohli is not only receiving his captaincy but also consistent achievements from his batting. He himself admitted that his batting is very improved in the last one-two years. On Thursday, after winning the semifinal against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy, Virat said “If there has been a lot of strength in my batting in the last one-two years, then two people have a big hand in it”.

He attributed his success to two people – Sanjay Bangar and Raghu.

“The success of a batsman does not get much significance for those who work for him behind the scenes. But I believe that specially Raghu has made me very strong by practicing on the speed of 140 km,” said Kohli while speaking to reporters.

We all know who Sanjay Bangar is, the batting coach of Team India. Raghu happends to be the one who throws balls to the batsmen in the nets.

Who is Raghu?

Raghu’s real name is Raghavendra. Raghu is associated with a special purpose with the Indian team. He is responsible for the practice of throw-down (throw balls to batsmen on the nets) during practice. Raghu throw balls for hours and practicing team India’s batsmen. In addition to Virat Kohli, he has also bowled the legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid on the nets. Virat Kohli with raghu

Raghu, a resident of Karnataka, went to Mumbai to dream of becoming a cricketer. But he did not get much success playing on behalf of the clubs there. He returned home. There he added himself to an institute. Later, he became a throw-down assistant of the Ranji team. His luck changed from there and got a job in the NCA (National Cricket Academy) in 2008. After that he joined Team India.
