Tamil Cinema actor Joseph Vijay was questioned by the Income Tax (IT) officials on Wednesday (5 February) over tax evasion.

Reportedly, he was questioned in connection with the IT raid that has been taking place at the properties of AGS Enterprises. During the raid at AGS, actor Vijay’s salary for Bigil has come into the debate after which the actor was questioned.

The movie Bijil was shot for a budget of Rs 180 crore and also ended up being one of Actor Joseph Vijay’s most successful movies till date. Officers alleged that they found unaccounted transactions between the financier and the actor.

After raiding AGS Enterprises, the Income-Tax officials are also conducting raids at properties of actor Vijay in Chennai and financier Anbu Cheziyan.

Actor Joseph Vijay was picked up by the IT officials from the sets of his upcoming movie Master, near Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. The shooting for the day was thus cancelled.

The searches began in as many as 38 locations in Tamil Nadu and unaccounted cash of about Rs 25 crore was seized from the premises of a Tamil film financier who had faced allegations of intimidation and arm-twisting to recover money, said official sources. Several documents indicating substantial tax evasion were also seized, they added.
