Legendary South director C.V. Rajendran passes away at the age of 81!

Legendary South director C.V. Rajendran passes away at the age of 81. He passes away at a private hospital in Chennai where he had been admitted for his illness.


The final rites of the director will take place on Wednesday after his children reach Chennai.

Rajendran has directed popular movies in Tamil like “Galatta Kalyanam”, “Sumathi En Sundari” and “Raja” starring Sivaji Ganesan and J.Jayalalithaa who later became Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister.

He also directed other popular movies like “Vani Rani”, “Sivagamiyin Selvam”, “Ponnoonjal”, “Maalai Sooda Va”, “Garjanai” and several others in Tamil starring Sivaji Ganesan, Jaishankar, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.

Rajendran hails from a village near Madurantakam. He was related to another popular Tamil movie director C.V.Sridhar, with whom he worked during his initial days.

Apart from Tamil movies, Rajendran had also directed movies in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
