Complete review of ‘Noor’

Star Cast: Sonakshi Sinha, Purab Kohli, Kannan Gill, M.K. Raina, Smita Tambe

Director: Sunhil Sippy

Producer: Vikram Malhotra, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar

Rating: 2.5/5 Stars

Music Director: Amaal Mallik

Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Noor’ has been released in cinemas. Directed by Sunhil Sippy, The film is based on Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi, You’re Killing Me! and follows a Indian journalist-writer Noor’s misadventures and love life as she navigates her way through Mumbai.

 [ecp code=”4″]

Story of the movie: Noor (Sonakshi Sinha) is a journalist, but hates her life as according to her everything in her life is going wrong. Her father loves the pet cat more than her; she is forced to cover the stories and the interviews which she doesn’t want to. For example, an interview of Sunny Leone (by the way, as an entertainment reporter, I would like to point out that interviewing Sunny is not a bad thing at all). Well, she wants to do hard beat journalism like some hard-hitting story, and finally she gets one. How Noor’s life takes the turn after she does that story, for this you have to watch the movie.

Star Performance: Sonakshi Sinha, delivers a show-stealing performance as the gritty, yet troubled, Noor. Other cast including Kanan Gill, Shibani Dandekar and Purab Kohli have done justice to their roles.

Music Direction: The film’s music is good.

Direction: The film’s direction, location and camera work is amazing. Cinematography is good. By the way, the story of the film is based on the famous Novel, but seems very weak when watching. The first half of Noor is very enjoyable and breezy, thanks to the light-hearted proceedings and snappy dialogues. Though nothing major happens plot-wise till much later, the screenplay is quite engaging showing the travails of Noor as she struggles with life, love and career.

Watch Or Not: The films can be watched once. Rest, your choice!

Karisma’s rumoured boyfriend Sandeep Toshniwal’s divorce proceedings gets halted

[ads1]

After Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur tied the knot with his girlfriend Priya Sachdev in Delhi last week, in a hush-hush affair, with only family and close friends in attendance, there is speculation now whether his ex-wife Karisma Kapoor will also soon tie the knot with her beau Sandeep Toshniwal.

Karisma Kapoor had breathed a sigh of relief when boyfriend Sandeep Toshniwal’s wife Dr Ashrita had initiated the preliminary proceedings of divorce, after years of steadfastly refusing to end the marriage in court.

But Karisma’s  happiness has been rather short-lived because if latest reports of Spotboye are to be believed then their marriage plans have got halted as Sandeep divorce proceedings with wife Dr Ashrita have again run into rough waters.

 [ecp code=”4″]

We had told you that Sandeep and Ashrita had mutually decided on an alimony payment which will include Rs 2 Crore for Ashrita and Rs 3 Crore each for both the daughters (11 yrs and 6 yrs each) in lump sum. The former couple had decided to file divorce with ‘mutual consent’ but just days later, the scene has changed and how!

As per reports, Ashrita appeared in court on Tuesday and cleared that though she is okay with the amount she is not ready to comply with the court’s demand of declaring the investments she will be making with the money. This is done in cases like these to ensure that the right heir gets his/her money. SpotBoye reports that her refusal ended up in chaos. Both Ashrita and Sandeep’s lawyers indulged in mudslinging.

Naturally, ‘mutual consent’ has fallen through and the divorce is back to square one.

And this halt has also created tension for Sandeep and Karisma’s marriage plans.

Kamal Haasan summoned by court over his remarks against Mahabharata!

[ads1]

A Valliyur court in Tirunelveli has summoned actor Kamal Haasan to appear before it on May 5. This after a PIL was filed by members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi last month against Kamal Haasan for allegedly making derogatory comments about the Mahabharata.

Kamal Haasan in an interview to a Tamil channel, reportedly said while referring to The Mahabharata, that a woman is gambled away in the epic and that India honours such a book.

 [ecp code=”4″]

The actor had said, “In Mahabharata, Panchali was used as a pawn while the men gambled. She was used as a collateral and India is a country that respects and honours a book that revolves around men using a woman to gamble away as if she was a mere object.”

Following this, the members of Hindu Makkal Katchi had filed a PIL at Valliyur court in Tirunelveli. A complaint was also filed by them at the Chennai City Police Commissionerate on March 15. The Akila Hindu Mahasabha also filed a complaint against the actor with the Collector in Coimbatore last month.

While speaking to Hindustan Times, President of  HMK said, “Kamal Haasan has been repeatedly taking an anti-Hindu stand and it has increased during the recent times. He has needlessly criticised Mahabharat, which is a revered epic of the Hindus along with Ramayana. Can he dare to talk in an insulting manner about Islam or Christianity and Bible and Quran? There will be a massive campaign against Kamal Haasan if he does not apologize and withdraw his comments. Actually he has been a serial offender and we demand action be taken against him.”

Actor Sachiin Joshi, who was last seen romancing Sunny Leone onscreen in jackpot, is now a proud owner of Vijay Mallya’s famous Kingfisher Villa.

After three failed auctions, banks have finally managed to sell the Kingfisher Villa in Goa belonging to the troubled businessman Vijay Mallya to actor-producer Sachin Joshi.

Sachin Joshi

The property, known as the ‘Kingfisher Villa’, is situated on the picturesque Candolim Beach, a tourist hotspot.

It had earlier failed to attract buyers on three auction attempts by SBI Caps – which had taken over the possession of the villa – ostensibly since the reserve price was between Rs. 81-85 crore.

For the current sale, the reserve price was fixed at Rs. 73 crore and the villa found a buyer in actor-cum-business baron, 33-year old Joshi, of the Mumbai-based Viiking Ventures Pvt Ltd, said an SBI official who requested anonymity.

[ecp code=”4″]

The property sale comprises a part of the recoveries due of the Rs. 9,000-crore plus amounts including loan and interest outstanding from Mr Mallya who is currently living in the UK since over a year.

Sachin Joshi’s father and chairman of JMJ Group of Company, JM Joshi, said that his son has started buying this villa for Rs. 73 crores. Soon they will go to Goa to see this villa. Talking to the media in Jodhpur, JM Joshi said that ‘Kingfisher Villa’ will be renamed ‘King’s Mention’.

Promising media to tell about his future plans Joshi said that the villa helps him to bring back positive feeling. “It’s a good feeling. It’s a very positive feeling and I guess it’s a mixed bag at this moment.”

This villa has all the comforts of the world. The beach side villa has 15 small bungalows in it. The villa, spread over 12,350 sq ft or three acres at Candolim (on the way to Fort Aguada), was legally owned by United Breweries Holdings, the parent company of the Kingfisher Airlines. The lenders had taken physical possession of the villa in May 2016.

Recently, singer Sonu Nigam made a statement on Twitter against the use of loudspeakers for ‘azaan’, the call to prayer in mosques.

However, though his intentions may have been in the right place, as he later confessed he just want to ban the use of loudspeakers, the choice of words he used to lead to a lot of a debate whether he was targeting just one community. A maulavi in Bengal even offered Rs 10 lacs to anyone who would shave off Sonu Nigam’s head, which Sonu himself obliged and shaved off his head in the presence of the media.

 [ecp code=”4″]

Now, we hear that Sonu’s tweets had a real knife fight in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, that led to two people getting hospitalised owing to injuries.

This incident happened on Wednesday in Gopalpura region in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. If reports are to be believed the heated argument occurred between Shivam Rai, who supported the playback singer’s stand on Facebook. Later, these men followed Rai to his friend’s birthday party, and as per a police report, assaulted him and his friends with knives. Though the boy managed to escape without getting any injury, two unfortunate friends of his got seriously injured in the attack and were admitted to the hospital.

A case of attempted murder against the accused under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code has been filed by the police.

Raveena Tandon starrer ‘Maatr’ movie review is here!

[ads1]

Complete movie review of ‘Maatr’

Star Cast: Raveena Tandon, Divya Jagdale, Madhur Mittal, Alisha Khan, Anurag Arora, Rushad Rana

Director: Ashtar Sayed

Producer: Michael Pellico

Music: Fuzon

Rating: 2.5/5*

“Maatr” which means Mother in English is a rape-revenge thriller that deals with the issue of increasing number of rapes in India. Film marks the return of one of the top stars of 90s, Raveena Tandon, who was last seen in a cameo appearance in “Bombay Velvet”.

Maatr

Story of the movie:

An idealistic Delhi school teacher Vidya Chauhan, played by Raveena Tandon, lives a strained personal life. Though she loves her daughter, her equation with her husband is far from cordial. While trying her best to deal with the world with a smile, she and her daughter are gangraped. To make matters worse, the chief minister’s son is among the culprits.

The investigative officer Shroff (Anurag Arora) buckles under pressure, and does his best to brush the case under the carpet. However, he underestimates Vidya’s anger who is now out for revenge.

Direction of the film:

The film’s direction, dialogues are amazing. The director has given special attention to both outdoor and indoor photography, and the shooting in real locations makes it more refreshing. The film’s cinematography is also very interesting. However, its story is quite weak.Because of this, screenplay could have been better. Also, logic could also be kept good. The issue is good but the story could be more strong.

[ecp code=”4″]

Star-cast Performance

Raveena Tandon is fairly average as a rape survivor and a warrior mother Vidya. There are scenes where her pain becomes real for once, but then it cuts to illogical gym sequences trivialising her sufferings. The diva must have done Nation Award winning worth performances, but “Maatr” isn’t one of them.

Madhur Mittal as loathing Apurva Malik is the villain of the story and the only above average actor in the film. He makes you hate him from the first scene if that is what the director wanted the audience to feel.

Divya Jagdale as Ritu (Vidya’s friend) and Anurag Arora as Inspector Jayant Shroff are again average, with few scenes so cringe-worthy that you just don’t want to hear the monotonous dialogue delivery of the actors.

Music of the film:

The background score of the movie is good. There is only one song in the film, that occurs twice and it was so not required.

What’s Bad:

“Maatr” disappoints on many levels despite being a relevant film. A veteran or experienced director would’ve turned it into a masterpiece as it had all the element of a hard-hitting, entertaining crime-drama thriller.

What’s Good:

What I liked most about her revenge driven avatar was the fact that she didn’t overnight turn into a butt-kicker, even during the act of vigilantism, she was still a grieving mother and her fist fights were not well choreographed but rather messy which gave the film the realistic feel. The cinematography too helps the film get a realistic feel.

Final Verdict:

This movie is based on the issue and if you like this kind of movie then you can definitely see it.

Aditi Bhatia lands into an ugly fight with Ruhaanika Dhawan’s mother on the set of ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’

[ads1]

The cast of “Yeh Hai Mohabbatein” are known to share a great bond both on and off screen. However, in a rare instance, the otherwise friendly cast of the popular show recently got involved in an ugly spat on the sets.

aditi and Ruhaanika Dhawan

And you will be surprised to know that the reason for the verbal war was the youngest member of the show, Ruhaanika Dhawan aka Pihu, who has always been the centre of attraction for the entire team.

aditi and Ruhaanika Dhawan

It so happened when Aditi Bhatia, who plays the role of Ruhi, apparently passed a remark on the nine-year-old’s acting skills during the shoot of a particular scene.

[ecp code=”4″]

According to the close source of the show “Aditi and Ruhanika were shooting a scene together and because the height difference between the two it was proving a difficult one to film. Ruhanika was given a small stool to stand in to increase her height but even then it needed many retakes. Aditi got irritated and walked away as soon as the scene was canned and went straight to co-star Krishna Mukherjee to complain about it. Aditi called Ruhanika “dumb”. Unfortunately Ruhanika overheard the conversation and told everything to her mother. Ruhanika’s mom went to Aditi’s vanity van and she lashed out at Aditi in front of the entire production house.”

Real Mother of Ruhanika

(Real Mother of Ruhanika)

However, when the website contacted Aditi and Ruhaanika’s mother and questioned them if there was any truth to the news, both refuted it claiming it to be a rumour.

In other news, Aly aka Romi has reportedly quit Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. The actor is reportedly serving his notice period and the makers are in the process of devising ways to execute the actor’s exit.
