Rishi Kapoor breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital today. He was 67. The veteran actor was battling with cancer since the last few years.

The actor’s death has left the entire nation in shock. Many of his co-stars, actors, and fans have expressed their sadness and also extended their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family through social media.

Today, we are going to bring you some of the most lesser-known facts about the superstar.

Rishi Kapoor was born on was born on 4th September 1954 in Chembur, Bombay, in a Punjabi family. He was the second son of actor-director Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor (née Malhotra). The actor was the grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor made his debut in Bollywood in his father’s movie, Mera Naam Joker which was a huge hit. The actor got his first lead role in the 1973 film Bobby. He shared screen space with Dimple Kapadia in the same.

Rishi Kapoor worked in more than 130 Bollywood films and was doing a great job in his second innings with some of the most unique and diverse characters.

Kapoor married actress Neetu Singh his 15 time co-star on 22 January 1980. Not many know that Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s families were not in favour of their marriage. But Rishi Kapoor’s determination to spend the rest of his life with Neetu Singh was high and finally, both the families agreed for their marriage. The couple has two children– actor Ranbir Kapoor and designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

In 1999 he directed the film Aa Ab Laut Chalen, starring Rajesh Khanna, Aishwarya Rai and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles. His last film as a romantic lead was the delayed Karobaar: The Business of Love (2000).

Rishi Kapoor has been in controversies for his comments on being a “beef-eating Hindu”, social media.

Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, was released on 15 January 2017. Kapoor wrote the book along with Meena Iyer, and the title was published under Harper Collins.

Kapoor was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 2018 and went to New York City for treatment. After a successful treatment for over a year, Kapoor returned to India on 26 September 2019. Kapoor was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai on 29 April 2020 after he complained of having difficulty in breathing.
